How The “Zion” Design Set Got It’s Name

Several years ago I ordered these beads for a specific, but completely different design. When they arrived the colors were wrong for the intended design. I was quite disappointed and even though they were beautiful gemstones, I didn’t know what I was going to do with them. A few days later my husband took me for a drive up through Zion National Park. This park practically sits in our back yard and even after almost 30 years of living this close I still find the scenery breathtaking. It was one of those beautiful summer days with the sky a gorgeous deep turquoise blue. The rock formations were shades of rusty red, deep orange and soft peach with a sprinkling of green and cream colors. I suddenly realized that I was looking at the very hues and colors that were in the gemstone beads I’d received. I knew what I was going to design with those beads and what I would name the design.
