A Legend and a Beautiful Story Inspire Some Unique and Fantastic Jewelry

Early in the 1st century, A.D., a mysterious little flotilla of double prowed boats pushed up onto the beach of a small French fishing village. The little boats, called by the French, navettes, had just crossed the Mediterranean Sea. The boats held no seasoned seamen and moved across the sea without oarsmen or even oars. An unseen power propelled the tiny vessels and their passengers all the way from the shores of Israel to this insignificant Mediterranean village. But from this tiny village, these new arrivals would separate and move north, east, and west, to change the entire culture and history of France, Europe, and all of western civilization.

You can read about the event and the special passengers brought to the French shore by going to our blog post that tells more of the story and how it inspired our Navette jewelry. Link Here.

The navette, whether as a boat or as bread, is the inspiration for our jewelry design. The navette bead is elegantly simple and nicely frames the gemstone rounds and crystals. And, best of all, you have a wonderful story to tell of the origin of the design.

On their product pages, we simply call them Navette Necklace, Navette Bracelet, and Navette Earrings, but in the studio, they are called: Étoile de Navette, Bracelet de Navette, and Boucles d’Oreilees Navette. We think the studio names give the jewelry, and you, a little continental mystery and we encourage you to use these terms as a way to establish your jewelry making creds and to give you the spotlight for just a few minutes as you tell the tale of the origin of the design.

The available gemstones, Snowflake Obsidian, Rhodonite, Lapis Lazuli, and Howlite, allow you to chose the pallet and colors to frame your new creation.
